Therese James is a Welsh artist whose work is shown in galleries across the UK and at international art fairs, and is held in private collections worldwide.
Her practice is rooted in instinct and emotion. She paints with her hands, working the surface until the image begins to reveal itself. The figures who inhabit her paintings come from an inner world shaped by memory, imagination and lived experience.
‘Therese describes her process as a journey she never fully maps out in advance — a movement through feeling, intuition and the Welsh sense of hiraeth: a deep longing for home, both real and internal. Each painting becomes a way of finding that place and giving it form.
Her work has been recognised nationally, including selection for Welsh Artist of the Year and invitations to exhibit with the Countryside Council for Wales at the Royal Welsh Show and the Eisteddfod.
